There are plenty of reasons NOT to comment, such as:
•You have nothing nice to say and you know what your mother said about that.
•You have nothing to say, nice or otherwise.
•The post itself doesn't inspire you to comment.
•You're busy.
•You're lazy.
•You'd rather email.
•You don't want to be first and left hanging, like a call for a high five that goes horribly wrong.
Ahem...
1-Nothing nice to say? Most of the people I know that read this thing have never had problems saying less than nice things.
2&3-Are kind of redundant. If you have nothing to say, then fine. But I can't believe in ALL the postings that someone would have NOTHING to say. Hell, you said bunches just talking about NOT talking.
4-IF you're so busy, whatcha doing READING this for?
5-Lazy? Pfft. Too lazy to commetn but not too lazt to read all taht? Pfft pfft pfft!
6-The email and I can always copy and paste it. No biggie.
7-But that leaves ME hanging with the high fivey thing!!! And that, my friend, is MEAN!
As to (1), then maybe more people ought to heed their mother's advice. But then, momma did say knock you out...dilemmas.
(2) and (3) aren't redundant. (2) is more of an addendum to (1), while (3) more speaks to the effect of the original post.
(4), as with all of these items, is to more add insight than criticism. I read it because you are my friend.
(5) I am very lazy, I make no bones about it, unless they be lazy bones, but then that really reaks of effort.
(7) But see, I didn't leave you hanging, as I was the first one to comment to this particular post.
And you claim I would argue any point. Interesting.
And yes, 2 & 3 ARE redundant and BOTH really build off number one so they never should have been broken up into separate points to begin with. Cause if you claim 2 is an addendum, then your wording of it is a bit off. Number 1 is the "if you can't say anything nice" Thumper BS.... while 2 allows for NOT following number 1. So if 2 can allow for that, then so could 3 and all the others.
And yes, lazy is a valid excuse for YOU, Jon, but we were talking generalities.
